Azul continues to experience record growth.
Azul Linhas Aéreas Brasileiras announced that during September, it would reach the historic mark of 200 daily flights from its hub at the Aeroporto de Viracopos.
Since its founding in 2008, Azul Linhas Aéreas Brasileiras has been no stranger to growth and expansion. Today, it is the largest airline in Brazil by the number of flights and cities served, and within a few weeks will reach the historic mark of 200 daily flights from its main hub in Campinas. Beginning on September 12, Azul will increase its offerings to the cities of Goiânia, Curitiba, Foz do Iguaçu, Cascavel, Ribeirão Preto, São José do Rio Preto, Juiz de Fora, Vitória e Campo Grande. The news was announced during a meeting between Azul's Director of Institutional Relations, Fábio Campos, and Gustavo Müssnich, President-Director of the Aeroporto Internacional de Viracopos.
Azul's primary hub for domestic and international flights, Viracopos, will break records during September with 201 direct-daily flights to almost 70 destinations, including the cities with the highest corporate demand – Rio de Janeiro, Brasília, and Porto Alegre. Beyond corporate travel, Azul is also increasing its offerings to leisure destinations like the capitals of the Nordeste (northeast) region of Brazil, which are home to some of the country's best beaches.
"Campinas is Azul's home, the main point of connection for our domestic, international, and cargo markets. The Viracopos airport became one of the main airports in Brasil since Azul began its operations there. Improving our route network from Campinas is synonymous with new business opportunities and leisure travel, improving the economy and the return of tourism throughout the country. I thank all the institutions that have contributed to this historic mark that we will achieve in September, like the ABV, DECEA, MINFRA, ANAC, Campinas city hall, and the metropolitan region of Campinas." – Fábio Campos, Director of Institutional Relations, Azul Linhas Aéreas Brasileiras
Gustavo Müssnich, President-Director of the Aeroporto Internacional de Viracopos, added,
"Viracopos continues investing in order to support the growth of passenger traffic from its main client, Azul. In the past two years, nine additional gates became operational at the passenger terminal, with R$50 million (about $10 million USD) in investments."
Many Brazilians favor Azul Linhas Aéreas for its superior quality of service. The airline has set itself apart from every airline in Brazil and, in July was the world's most punctual airline, according to Cirium.
The Brazilian airline rebounded quickly from the COVID-19 pandemic, already increasing its revenue by 50% compared to pre-pandemic levels. Though it may not seem like an advantage on paper, Azul's diverse fleet has allowed it to increase its flexibility and serve cities that no other airline serves.
Perhaps one of Azul's best decisions was to acquire TwoFlex, a small airline that operated a fleet of Cessna aircraft. Through the acquisition and the rebranding of TwoFlex to Azul Conecta, Azul has been connecting small cities in Brazil to major capitals.
